It is a sad day in the world of comedy
One of the twin towers has fallen.
Pryor is dead
Four years ago I purchased the warner box set of his work and was amazed on the amount of stuff I never knew he did. Sure he had tons of material but this is the work of many men in my opinion.
When I listened to some of it sure it was dated but it never was when he talked about his pain.
Pain is timeless.
Pryor is timeless
Lets hope that we have carlin for many more years
Most are talking about how he knocked down walls for other in terms of race. I say he did more then just that, he raised the bar for every colour to realize that you have to live what you talk.
when I heard he died for some reason I thought of this song by rem
It is not a well known song but to me it captures my moment when I heard he had died
"You are the everything"
Sometimes I feel like I can't even sing (say, say, the light)
I'm very scared for this world
I'm very scared for me (say, say, the light)
Eviscerate your memory
Here's a scene
You're in the back seat laying down (say, say, the light)
The windows wrap around
To sound of the travel and the engine (say, say, the light)
All you hear is time stand still in travel
And feel such peace and absolute
The stillness still that doesn't end
But slowly drifts into sleep
The stars are the greatest thing you've ever seen
And they're there for you
For you alone you are the everything
I think about this world a lot and I cry (say, say, the light)
And I've seen the films and the eyes
But I'm in this kitchen (say, say, the light)
Everything is beautiful
And she is so beautiful (say, say, the light)
She is so young and old
I look at her and I see the beauty (say, say, the light)
Of the light of music
The voices talking somewhere in the house
Late spring and you're drifting off to sleep
With your teeth in your mouth
You are here with me
You are here with me
You have been here and you are everything
Sometimes I feel like I can't even sing (say, say, the light)
I'm very scared for this world
I'm very scared for me (say, say, the light)
Eviscerate your memory
Here's a scene
You're in the back seat laying down (say, say, the light)
The windows wrap around
To sound of the travel and the engine (say, say, the light)
All you hear is time stand still in travel
And feel such peace and absolute
The stillness still that doesn't end
But slowly drifts into sleep
The greatest thing you've ever seen
And they're there for you
For you alone you are the everything
For you alone you are the everything

Wow Darren, you said some mnd-blowing stuff there. I wonder what you'll write when john Wing dies?
I will put the same thing i have always said
he was a dick as a person to me but a great comic
he recently came through (I know you know that) and did very well. still is an asshole
see how I can say that anonymous but you can't cause you blur the two
see some people in this biz has the quality of being an asshole and a nice guy and I am sure John has both.
go home and burn some cds to rip off your fans on the back of cancer or better yet steal some jokes and cook some meat
at least I let you speak your mind here unlike yourself...you say you don't worry about what comics say and then you cry like a little bitch when the fire you started burns your ass.
some tissue fuckface?
