What are you lookin at?

I was shopping with a comic in a used record dvd store in downtown toronto and I came across the used special interest section of dvds. They mainly have documentaries and some standup dvds.

Low and behold there was a copy of my dvd for resale at this store. I started to laugh and showed the other comic. I picked it up with the dvd I was going to buy and walked to the front checkout. I placed the dvd I was buying down and threw the copy of my actual dvd at the guy. In a mocking voice I said

"This really hurts guys"

Then the cashier guy just picks it up and starts to take the protective shell off it like I was going to buy it. I said

"No man ...look at it ..I am not going to buy it ...it is me"

He looks at the cover for a second and then just shrugs and says very blandly

"Hey man that is the game"

Then he starts to ring in the price and I have to say to him again

"Hey I am not buying my own dvd here.....I have tons"

He just shrugs and says again

"It's just part of the game"

To me it was a funny moment in this biz we call show. I have to wonder ...I have only sold a few hundred copies of the dvd and mainly outside of toronto. The person could not have gotten more then three or four dollars for it.

Months of prep work.....thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours so someone could have enough to get half a cup of coffee at a starbucks.

Man the world sucks sometimes...

Who knew I was in "the game"

I always thought I was outside of it.
