Long December

Wow the longest stretch of time without a blog and there is reason to believe that maybe this year will be better then the last.

Not

Well the main reason there has not been much to report is because I really did not feel like giving a daily report of me laming it up in the clubs during the xmas season and new years. If you came to any of those shows and felt more dissappointed then I (which I doubt), email me and you will get free tickets to the next show I headline.

Now on to January, I have been mcing a lot for the dark days of January. Why am I mcing..who knows but it will be the last time for that as well. There are few things I am proud of these days but the amount of new material since the last January is one of them and I feel very stagnated by these mc shows.

This was also a month a lot of other things have been going on. A few more shorts were filmed for the net which will be posted in the news section once they are up. I am also looking for some more grassroots help on helping getting the word out that I am touring. If you are interested email me. I am currently not getting much response from traditional outlets for press since they are too scared or are too comfortable in reporting and covering cheerleader acts.

Enough of the bullshit of the biz

Have you ever listen to a musician and then stop for years and then hear them again and wonder why you never kept up with them. I recently received a free cd of the newest indigo girls record "despite our differences". I followed them quite a bit like most during my college days. I started getting more into indy artists and strayed far away from the soft leanings of folk. With age comes a great appreciation of standing your ground and do what you want to do. I was blown away by their new record. I listened to it for days over and over. These chicks know what the fuck they are talking about.

So, I recently went out and bought three more records and was still amazed at the quality of each record. They take chances and are making the crowd go where they want to go not the other way around. Just like any great comic they are educating me first while at the same time I feel my nerves slow down in the melancholy of their folkier songs.

To many people they are known as lesbian icons. To me I don't think that is fair. I have never been a fan of using sexual oreintation as a category. I could give a fuck who they fuck and I like it that way. Sure there are songs that talk about gay relationships but if you are that close minded that you cannot see that in those relationships they are the same as hetero then keep using that label and stay out of their way.

When I was fourteen the coolest muther fucker on the planet was Rob Halford from Judas Priest ( I know I know ...small town boy if only I had a bronski beat record i could run away). When you are that age you are not sure why you like something but you love it...and boy did I love that stuff. To this day I can still sing every word to all their records.

In 98 it was announced to the world that Halford was gay and that it sent waves through the rock community. Well we are not talking tsunami waves but big enough that people worried about acceptance in a closed minded group like macho metal heads. Some guys actually got rid of the record collections and started complaining on the net calling Halford a faggot blah blah blah. To me I don't listen to music to confirm my beliefs..to slap me on the back "hey you are cool cause you think the same was we do".

It is the same as the indigo girls.

Sure we all listen to music for different reasons but I can't wait to go to my next metal show with my new indigo girls shirt on. Fuck it I might even go with a gay friend.

God the Horror
