Oh Halifax ...Oh halifax

The last time I was in Halifax for a show open to the public was summer 99. I was doing a tour right before my first appearence at Just For Laughs and life was great. Happy comedy was the order of the day, the crowds loved me and I loved them.

Eight long years later......

The weekend produced lots of new material and many weird stories. One mother in her 40's brought her two kids in their 20's to the show and people were worried what she might think of the show. Afterwards she said to her two kids

"come on fuckies lets go"

After friday night a woman in her 50's came up to me and said that she loved the show ..that she had seen hundreds of shows and that was the best she ever saw. Then after telling me that, she said her friend hated the whole show with a little bit of a sparkle in her eye. See I am not the only person who likes to see others uncomfortable.

Five shows with either sold out or near sold out crowds. After performing most nights for an hour if not more I am drained. Tonight was the first time ever where I actually had two occasions where I actually felt I had to physically slow down cause I was pushing it too much. To scream and hear your brain crack is not something I condone.

After all the screams I could only think of one song and mainly one line from it.

The world is a vampire, sent to drain
Secret destroyers, hold you up to the flames
And what do I get for my pain?

Betrayed desires, and a piece of the game
Even though I know - I suppose Ill show
All my cool and cold-like old job

Despite all my rage Im still just a rat in a cage
Then someone will say what is lost can never be saved
Despite all my rage Im still just a rat in a cage

Now Im naked, nothing but an animal
But can you fake it, for just one more show?
And what do you want, I want to change
And what have you got when you feel the same

I gave a hundred and fifty percent for twenty per cent return from the audience. That is ok....cause I did what I wanted to do. I told the jokes I wanted to tell in the way I wanted to tell them. I wasn't censored and the crowd dictated if they liked something or not and I would not want it any other way.

For the first time in a long time I am pretty proud of what I have done over the last year.

How many people can say that

Do you think they will ever come out with a "Darren Doll?" You know the ones where you press their tummy, and they speak?? And in this case, they spew out things like Fuckie, Fucktard, Whah, Whah!
LOL! We could call it the doll with Tourette's!
