The Kids Don't Get It

It has been a few weeks since I have blogged for various reasons.

First nothing really amazing has happened and I did not want to turn this into hey look what I do everyday type blog

Secondly I have been having health issues again and had to cancel some shows. I apologize to anyone who came out but health has to come first if you want to see me a second time bitches.

I recently did a show in my home town and the show was successful but in the end people let you down. We broke even so I know what you are thinking...why the crying?

Well....so many people emailed me over the years telling me to come and perform in the town hate forgot. I dug in and provided the best show comedy wise the town had seen in years at a very resonable price. Tons of people said they were going to come and yet many did not.

In the end most of the crowd were my superfans and family with maybe 20 per cent walkin traffic. We postered the town ...had a huge article in the daily paper and picked a night that was dead entertainment wise.

That is when I learned a valuable lesson...no one walks it like they talk it anymore. I mean everyone not just bullshit comics who lie to justify their existance.

People forget that I do this for a living and when you ask me to come and do something for you then I am not able to make that money back for that weekend. By coming to your fucked up town I am rolling the bones for that weekend.

People bitch and complain and complain and bitch and yet still do nothing about their pathetics lives in the end. I bitch like the best of them but I am always trying to change my situation.

The next person I meet that says there is nothing to do in Brantford I am going to punch in the fucking face.

I am going to chime in on this one.

I am the owner of www.brantNOW.com, I worked with Darren on making this show happen in Brantford.

We figured with the amount of traffic my web site gets, my desire to promote the show and the amount of "When are you coming to Brantford?" that Darren heas over the years, would equate to a HUGE show.

I started the campaign 3 months before the show was going to happen. I created a Facebook group, which had 50 people saying "I am coming", which we figured they'd bring a date or friends. Then a whopping 180+ who said "I am probably coming". Overall, approximately 1,000 people were made aware of this show via facebook.

All the fans that e-mailed Darren we're contacted.

I posted flyers ALL over this town, and Darren even came down one day with me and helped me hit a section of town I hadn't reached yet.

Thankfully, the show made enough money to cover the expenses of doing a show like this. However, I look back at all of the effort that went into this night, between flyers, tickets, setting up the hall and getting volunteers... and I have to say, I am disappointing in Brantford.

All anyone does around here is complain that there is NOTHING to do -- so, we gave you something to do, something you have asked for over and over... and although many people said "Save me 10 tickets, I'll be there" They didn't show up.

I personally know of about 20 people who didn't show up, yet asked me to hold tickets...

Thankfully, we didn't hold tickets for that very reason. We had hoped that the 300 tickets would be snapped up like hot cakes.

I am thankful that Darren allowed me to be involved, and I was straight with Darren by saying that this was first BIG event -- and I made some mistakes, but I can tell you this... I worked my ASS off to promote this show, and the 2,000+ people that viewed the article on my web site, and all the facebook people who said "I'll be there, man!" and all the fans that said "Come to brantford!"

Where were you???

It wasn't a lack of effort from me that didn't bring 300 people in the doors, it was a lack of effort from the people in Brantford, who want to stand on the soap box and complain... but don't come off the box when their demands are answered.

The show was awesome, and for the people that were there -- it was special.

For those that didn't show up, thanks for the support.

You missed a helluva show.

We drove in from Niagara, all 4 of us... and we are happy to follow Darren around and see him in as many different places as we can...

The people of Brantford need to get out more... and they chose not to. Sad for them...

Thanks to Jamie and to Darren for organizing the show, I'm proud to say I'm NOT from Brantford though!
